Hi, I’m Thasheena. I’m an Artist and Surface Pattern Designer based in Bangalore, India. I’m passionate about creating artwork I wish to see come alive in the world .
My solution to everything in life is the great outdoors .My art is hugely inspired by the unimaginable beauty of nature and it’s my attempt to translate and infuse some of that beauty into my work.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself, I was born in a small little hill station in the South of Karnataka called Coorg , amidst Coffee plantations and Bougainvillea bushes. I grew up on the farm, barefooted and free. That’s the best description of myself in the shortest possible sentence.
I wish I could tell you I grew up drawing and painting and always being creative since I was a child. Nope, far from it. Instead, I set out to explore the world and checked all the boxes towards becoming an independent woman in pursuit of achievement that somehow seemed to be in a faraway place. A milestone that kept shifting. I graduated as an Engineer and served as an Officer in the the Indian Air Force for a decade. I then went on to do a Executive MBA from The Indian Institute of Management in anticipation of a corporate career. I paid no attention to art . I was too busy keeping up with the Joneses. Too busy to care about art. Too busy making my way from one milestone to the next . Until……a decade later…without warning… Art found me and I found myself.
Art taught me to rejoice in the richness of the present moment and led me back to being barefooted and free. It led me back to me.
There was no more box checking, no more milestones to reach, just the sheer need to create in the Now. I couldn’t make much sense of it all until I read the book ‘Big Magic’ by Elizabeth Gilbert. Thus began my journey as an artist in 2019.
Being completely self taught, I went on to pursue Graphic Design to find a suitable career with my obsession for all things art. One thing led to another and Tashi Trove, a place for all the delightful things I have to offer was born.
If art calls to you and you haven’t answered yet, I hope in me sharing my journey here, you will find your way too.
